WYDAC Infrastructure services provide critical support to the safe and effective functioning of all WYDAC activity. Being locally based ensures prompt and cost effective repairs and maintenance that could otherwise see services shut down for long periods.
Mechanical Training Workshop
The WYDAC vehicle workshop is based in Yuendumu Community. The Board were keen to not only minimise program disruption and downtime but to also develop training and employment pathways for young Warlpiri people. Most critically the early and consistent servicing of vehicles, as well as driver inductions and vehicle rescues, ensure that WYDAC staff operate in as safe an environment as possible. The workshop also serves as an valued resource for many other community members and agencies.
Housing and Infrastructure
The Housing and Infrastructure team work to repair and maintain all WYDAC infrastructure. With over 5 program sites, including youth centres, offices, swimming pools, staff houses and Mt Theo Outstation, the team has a constant and challenging role. This work is also critical in ensuring the safe and productive functioning of all WYDAC programs and for all program participants and staff. The team is in regular demand as a respected training and employment pathway for young Warlpiri people.
